Research, Publications & Applied Scholarship

My consulting is grounded in scholarship. From doctoral research on leadership behaviors and teacher retention to applied studies on international students and workforce outcomes, research is the engine behind the frameworks, strategies, and learning systems in this portfolio.

Doctoral Research

The Influence of Leadership Behaviors on Teacher Retention

🎓

The anchor of the Leadership Suite

The Influence of Leadership Behaviors on Teacher Retention: A Basic Qualitative Study — my doctoral dissertation (EdD in Leadership, American College of Education, 2025) — investigates how the behaviors of school leaders shape whether teachers choose to stay, examining the connection between leadership practice, school culture, and the retention of effective educators. The work asks a question with high stakes for every school: what do leaders actually do that keeps great teachers in the building?

This research runs as a through-line across the entire Educational Leadership & School Improvement Suite. It directly anchors the Teacher Retention & Workforce Excellence System and informs the design of the leadership development, coaching, and culture frameworks throughout the suite — translating findings about leadership behavior into practical, adoptable systems.

Applied Research Series

Studies on international students & workforce outcomes

As Chief Research Officer at Virtuous Sea Corporation, I lead applied research connecting international education, employer expectations, and labor-market outcomes — directing mixed-methods studies and a multi-year research agenda, and translating findings into actionable insight for institutions, employers, and policymakers.

🌏

International Student Labor-Market Studies

Applied research examining how Chinese international students transition into the labor market — the alignment between their education, expectations, and employment outcomes, and the implications for how programs prepare students for work.

🤝

Employer Perception Studies

Research into how employers perceive graduates' readiness, skills, and credentials — surfacing the gaps between what education systems produce and what the workforce actually values.

📚

Applied Research Series

A continuing series of applied studies bridging education and the world of work — bringing an evidence base to decisions about career pathways, skills, and program design.
