About
Dr. Barbara Z. Franks
Senior education leader, instructional designer, AI-education strategist, researcher, and consultant — designing solutions for classrooms, schools, edtech companies, and national education systems.
I design complete learning systems — and the leadership and AI capacity to run them — so schools and education systems can deliver rigorous, engaging, and equitable learning at scale and through change.
My work spans four levels: classroom & curriculum innovation, AI-powered education product design, school leadership & organizational improvement, and ministry / system-level transformation — connected by a single conviction: education improves when leadership, instruction, technology, and research are designed to work as one system.
Professional Identity
I am a curriculum and instructional design leader with 18 years across K-12, online, and international education, and I hold a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership. My executive career spans Chief Academic Officer, Academic Dean, Head of School, Regional Dean, and Founder roles across multi-campus international school networks in China, an IB PYP school in Anguilla, and U.S.-accredited online programs. Today I serve as Founder & CEO of D.R.E.A.M. Education Solutions, as an AI-Driven ELA Learning Strategist with 2-Hour Learning / Alpha Schools (Grades 3–8 across 50+ campuses), and as Chief Research Officer at Virtuous Sea Corporation — partnering with ministries, districts, schools, universities, and edtech organizations as an executive advisor and designer.

Research Background
My doctoral research — The Influence of Leadership Behaviors on Teacher Retention: A Basic Qualitative Study (EdD, American College of Education, 2025) — runs as a through-line across the Educational Leadership & School Improvement Suite. As Chief Research Officer at Virtuous Sea Corporation, I lead applied, mixed-methods research on international education, workforce development, student outcomes, and labor-market trends — informing my consulting on career-readiness and education policy. Caribbean & Global Context
Originally from the Bahamas (Freeport, Grand Bahama), much of my system-level work is grounded in the Bahamian and Caribbean education context — national AI strategy, educational intelligence, and career & future-skills pathways. This is paired with a decade of international leadership in China and the wider Caribbean — including IB PYP, U.S.-accredited, and bilingual programs — and a BA in International Relations (Lynn University), shaping a comparative, equity-centered perspective.
